Last week was a very special moment for the team at Glowing Mamma.
We were honoured to be named the BetaDen inaugural Worcestershire Innovation Champion of the Year, sponsored by Ice Blue — an award recognising innovation and technology within the region.
Now that the excitement has settled slightly, we’ve been reflecting on what the recognition really means to us.
Glowing Mamma has always been a company led by women, for women. Our mission has been to create services and experiences that genuinely support mothers and families, while building a strong community around them.
Part of that journey has been creating technology that makes those services easier to access. Our bespoke booking systems and website platform allow us to run and grow Glowing Mamma in a way that is seamless for our customers and our team.
What makes this even more special is that the technology was designed by Happy Desk, a fantastic female-led local tech company. We were also actually nominated by We Are Alp, a female- led marketing agency! Working with other women-led businesses to develop the systems behind Glowing Mamma has been an incredibly rewarding collaboration.
Receiving this award on International Women’s Day made the moment even more meaningful.
Women are still significantly underrepresented in the technology industry. Current figures show that:
In the world of entrepreneurship, female founders receive only around 2% of venture capital funding, despite strong evidence that women-led businesses perform exceptionally well.
These statistics highlight why representation and recognition matter.
For us, this award isn’t just about celebrating a moment — it’s about recognising the power of collaboration between women-led businesses and the role technology can play in supporting communities.
From the team at Glowing Mamma to the developers at Happy Desk, this recognition reflects the work of many brilliant women working together.
And a week on, we’re still incredibly grateful.
